Fright Nights 2026 New Maze Construction Begins at Thorpe Park

It’s official construction for Fright Nights 2026 has begun at Thorpe Park, including work on the mysterious new maze in the Saw Alive area, rumoured to have the project name Project Blackout!

The Saw Alive pathway has now been partially closed, while the Stitches plaza and access routes towards Vortex and Zodiac have also been blocked off. This will allow construction to continue on two large tents, which are expected to house the returning Stitches maze and the brand-new maze for 2026.

Construction on the new maze tent is progressing incredibly quickly. At the beginning of the day, the structure had no sides or doors installed, but by the end of the day, all of its wall panels and doors were in place. From what can currently be seen, the tent looks huge and could house a substantial new attraction.

Shipping containers have also appeared next to the Zodiac entrance, seemingly creating a site office and technical area for the attractions. The grey container has previously been used as the technical cabin for The Big Top, Stitches and several other Fright Nights mazes.

It is also great to see that Thorpe Park has kept part of the Saw Alive pathway open, allowing guests to continue accessing the misting area and water refill station during construction.

Elsewhere around the park, it is still slightly too early for the main Fright Nights transformation to begin. However, additional food trucks have appeared around Launch Pad ahead of the summer Thorpe Lates event. The area’s stage will also likely be reused during Fright Nights, potentially becoming home to Lucifer’s Lair or another live show.

We also expect the area beneath the Nemesis Inferno lift hill, previously used for Death’s Doors, to close within the next few weeks. However, this remains purely speculation for now.

Could Purgatory Town return for a second year? We currently think it is unlikely. Despite being introduced as a new scare zone for Fright Nights 2025, it frequently opened later in the evening and featured relatively limited theming compared with other areas of the event.

With a brand-new maze already confirmed alongside the returning Trailers, DeadBeat, Stitches and Survival Games, Fright Nights 2026 could feature one of the biggest attraction line-ups the event has seen in years.

Now that construction is underway, we cannot wait for the teasers and further announcements to begin!
