Nemesis Observation Platform Opens
Wednesday 26th April 2023
The Nemesis Observation Platform is officially open!

The Phalanx has opened up a viewing platform for the reconstruction of Nemesis.

With new track and supports starting to be delivered to the park from last night it won't be long until the iconic ride structure returns.

First Look At The New Track For The Nemesis Refurbishment
Tuesday 25th April 2023
Alton Towers have today revealed a new teaser for the Nemesis refurbishment / reimagining coming to the resort in 2024.

The video, which can be found via Alton Towers' social feeds shows "leaked" footage around a Phalanx facility, explaining all is not what it seems surrounding the Nemesis investigations.

In the video, it shows a Nemesis tentacle has been discovered, which is the track for the rollercoaster itself, sporting a black design with red veins running down the spine on the track piece. It is very reminiscent of the original colour scheme of the branding used when the ride first opened in 1994

Nemesis Observation Platform To Open April 26th
Friday 21st April 2023
Over the winter months, investigations have been underway at our Phalanx Research Facility to identify the reasons behind the unusual behaviour of Nemesis during 2022.

We have taken extensive samples for a range of in vitro and vivo tests, including deep cell analysis, chemical treatment testing, radiation exposure tests, antidote research, behavioural analysis and DNA genome mapping.

Our tests are confidential, but all results so far indicate that there is nothing to be concerned about.

We invite you to take a look for yourself via our Observation Platform open from 26th April located at the Alton Towers Resort.

Nemesis April 2023 Reconstruction Update
Monday 3rd April 2023
Work on rebuilding the foundations for Nemesis at Alton Towers is well underway. Riding the monorail into the park in the morning yesterday it was a weird sight not seeing the track wrapping around the pit and area. But you get an amazing view of the progress being made in the area.

Construction walls for Nemesis have also been pushed back with more access doors installed in the area meaning we can get a sneak peek at some of the progress being made.

Towards the top of the ride after the list hill, some of the basses of the supports are still visible. You can see where the removal company laser cut the base of the support to get the track out as quickly as they could. From riding air and looking around the area, it looks like these are the last two original support left to be fully removed.

The entrance for the rollercoaster remains for now with a time-lapse camera installed to capture the progress being made for the ride. There is another time-lapse camera installed near the helix section. Every angle of this project is being covered by the camera and it wouldn’t surprise us if there was more than just 2 time-lapse cameras.

At the helix of section of the track, new foundations are being dug. With a huge hole is being dug where a new support will be installed to help relieve some more stress of the ride. It's interesting that only 4 or 5 new supports are needed around the ride.

With the fences pushed back it opens up the park again a little more. The Blade now uses its original entrance again rather than the old Ripsaw entrance which has been used for the past 2 weeks.

We also spotted an old 2022 park map with Nemesis and Duel still on it. We’re sure over the next few days this map will be removed and maybe have some Nemesis is under-protection marketing added to it.

Still, no more signs of Nemesis Sub Terra reopening yet, but the ride has been seen testing the pre-show the past few days. We didn’t see it ourselves but there are videos on social media and YouTube.

Exciting times ahead for Nemesis!

Will Nemesis Sub Terra To Return For 2023
Sunday 19th March 2023
Is Nemesis Sub Terra about to reopen? It looks like it might be!

Extensive work has happened to the queue line for the attraction over the closed season. The queue line has been completely refurbished and the height stick for the ride has been spotted outside the pre-show for the ride.

To add to the speculation engineers have been seen entering the attraction along with hearing the ride testing.

If the attraction does reopen this year we would expect the story of the ride to change a little bit to help build the hype for the Nemesis retrack.

Next to Nemesis Sub Terra, a new viewing platform appears to have been built to allow guests to view the re-tracking of the rollercoaster. Something totally unexpected but we very nice touch!

No news from the park about the ride reopening yet, but we will of course keep you up to date when we hear it.

Nemesis Track Removal Complete And New Foundations Work Begins
Saturday 18th March 2023
Nemesis is no more! All of the track (with the exception of the lift hill and break run) has been removed and work on new foundations for the rollercoaster has begun. The ride layout will remain the same with a few additional supports to help relieve stress on the ride installed throughout the layout.

Big construction walls have been installed around the Nemesis ride area with banners also plastered around the area.

"Scientific Testing Is In Progress"

The big question on everyone's lips is, what colour will the track be for the rollercoaster and will the theme and name of the ride remain the same as before?

New foundations are well underway with new footers spotted when peering over the fence. Over the next few months, we expect all of the footers will be rebuilt and the new track could be delivered as early as June time!

Next to Nemesis Sub Terra, a new viewing platform appears to have been built to allow guests to view the re-tracking of the rollercoaster. Something totally unexpected but we very nice touch! You should get an amazing view of the ride construction from this viewing platform when opened.

Alton Towers Nemesis Track Removal Begins
Friday 2nd December 2022
Work on removing Nemesis has begun at Alton Towers Resort. The massive job of removing the old track has begun with sections of track spotted in the old staff car park before being loaded onto a flatbed truck and then being removed from the park.

There's no official news on where the track will go from here but we expect it will be sold off for scrap metal. We doubt any sections of the track will be auctioned off to enthusiasts with enough money. At the beginning of the day, two sections of track could be seen in the old staff car park and at the end of the day another new section of track from an undisclosed part of the nemesis ride could be seen in the compound. Unlike the two sections of the track, we could see before it looks like this one had to be cut out more extremely than sections before which looked to have just been lifted out rather than cut out.

It's an exciting time in the UK theme park industry, we've not lost an amazing coaster. It's just being preserved for future years to come!

Alton Towers offers once in a lifetime chance to ride Nemesis with its creator
Tuesday 18th October 2022
Alton Towers Resort is putting thrillseeking rollercoaster fans at the forefront of its plans for the world famous Nemesis ride by offering them the chance to be on the very last ride, along with its creative originator John Wardley.

The ride, which is due to close for an exciting revamp on 6th November and return in 2024, is now under the control of The Phalanx, a secret organisation tasked with keeping the beast under control.

This elite organisation claims Nemesis (the beast that the ride pins down) is behaving abnormally, they are seeking last riders which they call ‘final test specimens’ to assist with investigations, and they are refusing to comment any further at this point.

The final test specimens selected to brave Nemesis will be awarded a jaw-dropping prize including park access, Fastrack Gold passes, as well as a chance to meet the creator of Nemesis, John Wardley, and take part in the final ride on 6th November.

Kate McBirnie, Head of Guest Excellence at Alton Towers Resort, said: “We know that a place on Nemesis’ last ride is much-coveted. It’s a moment in history for the famous ride and we can’t think of a better way to honour this occasion than giving fans the opportunity to be part of this special event. As you’d expect we will be delivering ‘thrilliant’ surprises during the day.”

Visitors to the park who ride Nemesis on the final day will also be able to get their hands on a limited edition photo.

If thrillseekers think they have what it takes to face Nemesis one last time, they are invited to nominate themselves as a final ride ‘test specimen’, via www.altontowers.com/nemesislastride.

Nemesis was Europe’s first inverted roller coaster when it launched in 1994 and remains one of the UK’s best-loved rollercoasters today. Riders experience 3.5 G-force as they race past the rocks and rivers of the theme park’s Forbidden Valley at speeds of up to 50mph.

Nemesis will return in 2024 following its exciting transformation. Details of the transformation are being kept under wraps for now with more information to be revealed nearer the time.

Alton Towers Resort is renowned for providing world-class roller coasters and attractions for guests of all ages, including Wicker Man, the UK’s first wooden roller coaster to be built in over 20 years, Oblivion, the world’s first vertical drop roller coaster and The Smiler, the world’s first 14 loop rollercoaster, to name a few. The Staffordshire based theme park continues to welcome millions of guests from across the globe, delivering memorable and unique experiences and events each season.
