Chessington Closes Due to Burst Water Main 10th August 2026
Chessington World of Adventures was forced to close on Monday 10th August due to a water outage affecting the local area.
The closure was announced at around 10am, with Chessington advising guests with tickets booked for the day not to travel to the Resort.
Chessington said the theme park would remain closed for the day and apologised to guests affected by the unexpected disruption.
All tickets booked for Monday 10th August were automatically covered by Chessington's Return Promise, allowing affected guests to visit again on a future date.
At the time of the initial announcement, no details were given on how long the water outage was expected to last or whether the park would be able to reopen the following day.
UPDATE – Monday 10th August, 5pm: Chessington Confirms Tuesday Reopening
At around 5pm, Chessington updated its website and social media channels to confirm that the Resort would reopen as usual on Tuesday 11th August.
The update also confirmed that the closure had been caused by a burst water main affecting the local area.
Chessington thanked guests for their patience and understanding, once again confirming that anyone impacted by Monday's closure would be covered by the Resort's Return Promise.
UPDATE – Tuesday 11th August: Chessington Reopens
Chessington World of Adventures has now reopened as usual today, Tuesday 11th August, following yesterday's unexpected closure.
A further update published on Chessington's website this morning confirmed that the Resort was open as normal, with the park once again thanking guests for their patience and understanding following the burst water main.
Guests affected by Monday's closure remain covered by Chessington's Return Promise.
With the water issue resolved, the Resort has now returned to normal operation.
