Vampire Repair Work Begins Following Extended Closure July 2026

Vampire at Chessington World of Adventures has been closed since Thursday, 9 July 2026. Earlier this week, scaffolding could be seen being installed around the rollercoaster’s second lift hill, suggesting that repair work is now under way.

The ride experienced technical issues towards the end of last season, with rumours suggesting that the second lift hill may also have been involved on that occasion. Vampire is now more than 35 years old, and its age has started to become increasingly noticeable, with the rollercoaster experiencing a growing number of problems in recent years.

Workers were seen on the ride today, grinding and welding what appeared to be part of the chain-return system above the track on the second lift hill.

Vampire remains one of Chessington’s most iconic attractions, and we would love to see the rollercoaster preserved for future generations. A major refurbishment similar to the work completed on Nemesis Reborn could give Vampire a new lease of life, potentially including a full retrack and new trains while retaining its much-loved layout.

There has been no official news on when Vampire might reopen, but we hope the repairs can be completed soon. Its return would also provide some much-needed additional capacity during the busy summer holidays.
