World of Minecraft Chessington Delayed? Construction Update – 31st August 2026

Construction of the World of Minecraft at Chessington has felt noticeably slower over the past few months, with no additional rollercoaster track or supports installed since the initial sections went into place before the main building went vertical.

A large amount of track and supports that have already been delivered to the resort can still be seen sitting in the grass field car park, which does raise the question: is the project still on schedule, and will the new rollercoaster and area open as planned in 2027? We certainly hope so! Based purely on how the construction site currently looks, our best guess would be that the new World of Minecraft area could be aiming for a Summer 2027 opening.

Since our last look at the construction site, work has continued on the huge main building, with more cladding being installed. Theming anchor points can also now be seen on the left-hand side of the structure, suggesting preparations are already being made for the exterior theming that will eventually transform the building.

Outside, we can clearly see the footers and foundations ready for the outdoor sections of rollercoaster track, but there are currently no signs of the track itself being installed.

We had hoped that by Halloween or the start of the closed season, much of the outdoor track could be in place – and perhaps we might even see Kobra beginning to be reinstalled in its new home.

There is still plenty of time before 2027, but with a huge amount of work still to be completed, the next few months could be very interesting for the World of Minecraft construction site.
