2025

Now one of the longest-running mazes at Alton Towers, Altonville Mine Tours returns for another year. While the costumes and makeup remain strong, the maze has not changed at all, and it’s beginning to feel tired. Still enjoyable, but it is overdue for retirement and replacement.

2026

Altonville Mine Tours returns for 2026 with a few small changes.

Guests now walk through the tent rather than being spoken to at the start of the maze, there’s a new lift scene, and all of the effects inside were working brilliantly during our visit.

We had some amazing jump scares throughout the maze and really enjoyed it.

There was one section where we didn’t see any actors, although this could simply have been during an actor changeover or because they were elsewhere scaring another group.

There have also been some changes to the queue line, with objects and signs spray-painted with messages including “Sheriff where are you?” and “Tiny 1, Cop 0.”

It’s also worth noting that Altonville Mine Tours is now the final scare maze located inside the Towers, and once it is removed, no new maze can be installed in its place.
