Thorpe Park has posted an update about Hyperia in the Thorpe Park Annual Passholders Group on Facebook about the status of the trains and exclusive footage of the lift hill chain testing.

We could be less than 24 hours away from seeing the trains delivered on-site!

Small, but exciting Hyperia update Please note, we are not releasing details of the ride trains or testing ahead of time, but of course, we’re not far off now!

"We can exclusively reveal the lift chain successfully ran for the first time yesterday, which is a huge step forward in commissioning.

Taking a look inside the maintenance building, you may notice it's a little different to some other workshops as it doesn't feature a central track. This a common feature in modern Mack coasters, instead of sitting on the wheels, the trains are supported by the side of the train.

This takes the weight off of the running wheels and allows our engineers an unobstructed view of the wheel housing for daily inspections."

It's been a big day for Hyperia today! Commissioning for the ride has begun, with the testing of different components leading up to more serious testing such as the train being sent around the track.

The transfer track for the ride was spotted testing twice today. With it moving back and forth. This might sound like a small thing but this means that the ride is powered up and all of the wirings for that component are connected to the control panel and ride plc.

Elsewhere around the site, new permanent banners have been installed on the new temporary fences around the area. These new banners show off the new Thorpe Park logo and the Hyperia concept art. More fence posts have also been installed around the area. Creating the ride area needed to test the rollercoaster very soon.

Speakers have also been installed on the lift hill for the rollercoaster. White speakers have been installed as the rollercoaster gets higher and then gold ones have been installed where the track is still gold. A very simple touch but it's great to see attention to detail. Work on installing cameras up the lift hill is also being worked on. Installing anything at that height can't be easy.

All of the flags that were installed on the crown of Hyperia have also now been removed.

Previously being stored in the compound next to Trailers, the air gates for the rollercoaster have been moved or installed.

With the transfer track testing, it can't be long until we see trains for the ride delivered onto the track. Watch this space! 

With an opening date now set for Hyperia work on the queue line and ride area fencing has begun. Fence posts have been installed and during the day yesterday fences were installed creating the ride area for Hyperia.

Once this ride area is secure then the most exciting part can begin, testing! Danger of death signs have also been installed yesterday afternoon, warning guests not to enter this area. These new signs and new black cloth have been added to construction fences around the Hyperia construction site.

Some parts for Hyperia are being stored in the storage yard next to Trailers. The airgates for the rollercoaster can be spotted along with parts for the lift hill chain mechanism. The airgates for the ride have a jet-black colour scheme which we love.

Meanwhile, around the rest of the site, pathways for the queue line have been dug out and fences have been installed on the stairs into the station.  Work on wiring up the lift hill motor was also taking place yesterday. On the lift hill, brackets for cameras have been added and at the top of the lift, a wind sensor has been installed.

We're one step closer to seeing Hyperia test.  

But we're still missing the trains. We wonder when these might be delivered to the site. From what we understand these trains are now on site and waiting to be transferred to the maintenance bay.

It's just 55 days until Hyperia opens on 24th May 2024. 

Breaking news coming in from Thorpe Park this afternoon.

The park has announced that Hyperia will be opening on Friday 24th May 2024. Which just so happens to be the park's anniversary.

On March 15, 2024, Thorpe Park's Hyperia has re-opened to the public, and there's a buzz around the park! The Burger King retheme is still in progress, adding a fresh look to the dining experience. While the "Fearless" sign is still a work in progress, the anticipation only builds. The views of Hyperia from various spots around the park have dramatically transformed, offering new perspectives of the towering ride. Adding a touch of elegance, gold wings now adorn the station building, making Hyperia's entrance even more impressive.

With the track and supports for Hyperia now complete, work has turned to more important parts for the rollercoaster such as. Installing fences around the area so the ride can be tested in the next few weeks. But a huge job that started today was the installation of the huge lift hill chain which began today!

The installation of the lift hill chain on rollercoasters is something that is hardly ever seen from a guest's perspective but today we manage to catch engineers and workers installing the massive lift hill chain for Hyperia. The chain is split into different sections and is assembled on-site. Lifted into place in sections, installing the lit hill chain is a long process. The chain is lifted to the top of the lift hill and fed downwards where gravity then takes over and feeds the rest of the system.

A long process but an exciting one! All of the chains can be pictured in crates on the floor near the new shop and photo unit.

Elsewhere across the construction site, fences are being installed. Three large pallets of fencing were delivered to the site during the evening today. And more gold theming is being added to the station! This time on the section where the train reenters the station from the break run.

We can't wait to see what the trains look like and for this ride to start testing. 

It was a foggy start to the day, but Hyperia is now complete! The crest of the lift hill has been lifted into place today and the track for Hyperia is now complete.

Weighing 13 tones the crown of the lift hill was lifted into place at 2:30pm.

149 days later, construction on Hyperia has been completed. The rollercoaster went vertical on 9th October 2023 and was completed on Wednesday 6th March.

Hyperia is now the tallest rollercoaster in the UK! The Big One at Blackpool Pleasure Beach has been knocked off the top spot. 

The lift hill for Hyperia is complete! The first section of the lift hill track went into place at 12:15 pm today followed by two more sections of the lift hill joined together at 2 pm. The height of Hyperia is crazy when you're looking at it from Monks Walk.

The amazing team at Thorpe Park and BNE Construction have been hard at work over the past few months building this ride and it's almost over.  There are now only 2 supports, the catwalks left and the crest of the ride left to install before Hyperia is complete.

Other notable changes since our update on Sunday, plants and trees have been planted around the first turn of the ride. More gold trims have been added to the top of the station building, and work on wiring up the ride continues. There appeared to be a lot of work and attention happening to the lift hill motor today. It's unclear if the huge crane will be needed to install the chain.

Hyperia could be completed in the next 24 hours! 
 

It's a busy Sunday at the Hyperia construction site. Work on assembling the top of the lift hill has begun. Three sections of tracks are being put together on the ground before being lifted into place as one giant piece.

Before Hyperia can be crowned, there are three sections of white lift hill track that need to be installed. The supports for the lift hill are 90% complete, with another support installed over the past 48 hours since we last looked at the site on Friday afternoon. This support will hold part of the lift hill structure with another support on the other side, but we expect that will be installed after the lift hill track has been bolted onto the other side.

This is the week! Hyperia's track should be completed this week.

It's the end of a busy week at Thorpe Park for Hyperia. The first drop has been installed and we're so close to seeing the rollercoaster track completed. Over the past 24 hours work has taken a small break but it would appear that all of the track to complete the rollercoaster is now on site. With the sun shining today, we can get a proper look at the construction site and how good the first drop looks.

The smaller crane could be seen moving sections of the track around the site ready for Monday morning. Arms for the catwalk that will be attached to the lift hill were also seen flying around the air during the afternoon today. We expect these will be fitted today to avoid fitting them at height later next week.

Work on wiring up the rollercoaster continues with engineers spotted wiring up the wheels before the lift hill.

It would also appear that work on cementing the supports to the foundations has begun on the turnaround section outside the station. This means that the supports are now in their final position and can be permanently fixed.

It looks like next week could be the week Hyperia is completed!
