Thorpe Park Announces Hyperia Opening Date

Breaking news coming in from Thorpe Park this afternoon.
The park has announced that Hyperia will be opening on Friday 24th May 2024. Which just so happens to be the park's anniversary.

Hyperia Lift Hill Chain Installation Begins

With the track and supports for Hyperia now complete, work has turned to more important parts for the rollercoaster such as. Installing fences around the area so the ride can be tested in the next few weeks. But a huge job that started today was the installation of the huge lift hill chain which began today!
The installation of the lift hill chain on rollercoasters is something that is hardly ever seen from a guest's perspective but today we manage to catch engineers and workers installing the massive lift hill chain for Hyperia. The chain is split into different sections and is assembled on-site. Lifted into place in sections, installing the lit hill chain is a long process. The chain is lifted to the top of the lift hill and fed downwards where gravity then takes over and feeds the rest of the system.
A long process but an exciting one! All of the chains can be pictured in crates on the floor near the new shop and photo unit.
Elsewhere across the construction site, fences are being installed. Three large pallets of fencing were delivered to the site during the evening today. And more gold theming is being added to the station! This time on the section where the train reenters the station from the break run.
We can't wait to see what the trains look like and for this ride to start testing.
Hyperia Track Completed! Top Of Lift Hill Lifted Into Place

It was a foggy start to the day, but Hyperia is now complete! The crest of the lift hill has been lifted into place today and the track for Hyperia is now complete.
Weighing 13 tones the crown of the lift hill was lifted into place at 2:30pm.
149 days later, construction on Hyperia has been completed. The rollercoaster went vertical on 9th October 2023 and was completed on Wednesday 6th March.
Hyperia is now the tallest rollercoaster in the UK! The Big One at Blackpool Pleasure Beach has been knocked off the top spot.
Hyperia Lift Hill Completed

The lift hill for Hyperia is complete! The first section of the lift hill track went into place at 12:15 pm today followed by two more sections of the lift hill joined together at 2 pm. The height of Hyperia is crazy when you're looking at it from Monks Walk.
The amazing team at Thorpe Park and BNE Construction have been hard at work over the past few months building this ride and it's almost over. There are now only 2 supports, the catwalks left and the crest of the ride left to install before Hyperia is complete.
Other notable changes since our update on Sunday, plants and trees have been planted around the first turn of the ride. More gold trims have been added to the top of the station building, and work on wiring up the ride continues. There appeared to be a lot of work and attention happening to the lift hill motor today. It's unclear if the huge crane will be needed to install the chain.
Hyperia could be completed in the next 24 hours!
Top Of Hyperia Lift Hill Assembled

It's a busy Sunday at the Hyperia construction site. Work on assembling the top of the lift hill has begun. Three sections of tracks are being put together on the ground before being lifted into place as one giant piece.
Before Hyperia can be crowned, there are three sections of white lift hill track that need to be installed. The supports for the lift hill are 90% complete, with another support installed over the past 48 hours since we last looked at the site on Friday afternoon. This support will hold part of the lift hill structure with another support on the other side, but we expect that will be installed after the lift hill track has been bolted onto the other side.
This is the week! Hyperia's track should be completed this week.
Hyperia 1st March 2024 Update
Friday 1st March 2024
It's the end of a busy week at Thorpe Park for Hyperia. The first drop has been installed and we're so close to seeing the rollercoaster track completed. Over the past 24 hours work has taken a small break but it would appear that all of the track to complete the rollercoaster is now on site. With the sun shining today, we can get a proper look at the construction site and how good the first drop looks.
The smaller crane could be seen moving sections of the track around the site ready for Monday morning. Arms for the catwalk that will be attached to the lift hill were also seen flying around the air during the afternoon today. We expect these will be fitted today to avoid fitting them at height later next week.
Work on wiring up the rollercoaster continues with engineers spotted wiring up the wheels before the lift hill.
It would also appear that work on cementing the supports to the foundations has begun on the turnaround section outside the station. This means that the supports are now in their final position and can be permanently fixed.
It looks like next week could be the week Hyperia is completed!
Hyperia First Drop Completed

It’s a wet day in Staines but that hasn’t stopped Hyperia from having its first drop completed!
The track for the first drop has been installed and completed since our last update less than 24 hours ago. This leap day will go down in history as the day Hyperia had its drop completed.
Around the rest of the site, more supports have been delivered ready to be installed tomorrow.
But the question everyone’s thinking… when will the ride be completed?
Our best guess would be Monday possibly Tuesday. We expect the rest of the lift hill will be installed tomorrow and then on Monday and Tuesday the rollercoaster could be topped off and completed.
Hyperia First Drop Installation Continues

It's another busy day at the Hyperia construction site, the cranes have been busy and more of the first drop has been installed. The next stage will be more tracks being added!
More supports mirroring what was added yesterday have been added to the first drop structure. Whilst we were leaving tonight the team building the rollercoaster where having some difficulty installing one of the supports. But we're sure with time the support we saw rise into the air will be fitted and ready for more exciting changes tomorrow.
With a lot of the track now installed work is starting to turn to wiring up this massive rollercoaster. Sensors for the ride have been installed on the first turn to tell the ride's computer where the train is before it engages on the lift hill.
More supports were driven onto the site this afternoon along with a section of white track which leads us to believe that track will be lifted into place tomorrow.
Hyperia Huge Crane Arrives And First Drop Install Continues
Tuesday 27th February 2024
Hyperia at Thorpe Park has entered the final phase of construction. A huge crane has been delivered to the site and assembled. And has already started installing taller sections of supports previously unreachable by the smaller cranes previously seen on site.
Work on installing more supports for the first drop began today with around 5/6 supports installed during the day. Over the next few days and possibly into next week this crane is going to be expensive to rent so we expect the construction crews working on Hyperia will be working fast!
Other small bits we noticed, more parts for the top of the lift have been installed. More supports can be seen on the ground outside the shop. And more gold theming has been installed on the left-hand side of the station.

Hyperia Lift Hill Nears Competition

The lift hill for Hyperia stands at just over halfway completed and this week a huge crane is being delivered to the site to complete the lift hill and drop for Hyperia.
Over the past few days, all of the catwalks for the lift hill installed so far has been installed and preparations for the topping off of the rollercoaster has begun. The top of the lift hill and maintenance platform underneath it have been delivered to the site and placed just outside of the new shop and building offices. This will be assembled on the ground before being lifted into place as one big install.
Spotted on the lift hill, lights and a control panel have already been installed. The team arnt sitting around! This week could be the week we finally see Hyperia completed and then the next big stage will be the train being delivered.
Work on wiring up the rollercoaster is underway with cables seen hanging from supports in the maintenance bay and the station. It would also appear that construction fences around the ride are being removed.
This week is set to be a big week for Hyperia!
