7th January 2024 Hyperia Construction Work Resumes
Sunday 7th January 2024
It's 2024 and work on the construction site for Hyperia has started again. Workers returned to work on Tuesday and have been hard at work to get the rollercoaster built and ready for the 2024 season.

Since our last update before Christmas, more of the structure for the dive stall and Immelmann has been built and the beginning of another support structure has begun in the middle of the two elements.

Over the past few days, some lower sections of track and supports have been installed. We reckon the park will get these two inversions completed first then work will turn to the lift hill of the rollercoaster. Around the rest of the site, foundations at the bottom of some supports have been filled in. With some sections of the layout now complete, some of the bases of supports can be fixed into their final position. Doors have also been installed on the maintenance building and station. No more peeking into the station!

Inside the station for the rollercoaster, theming work has begun! Black metal panels similar to the outside of the station have started to be installed. We expect the station will have a minimalist theme to it and will have gold strips similar to the outside.

Outside the maintenance bay, two large items are being protected from the elements with some yellow and green sheets. We don't expect this to be anything major but could this be parts for the trains?

It's worth noting that with all the rainfall we've had recently, monks' walk is VERY wet. If you are planning on walking down we would recommend wearing waterproof boots or wellies.

Last Hyperia Construction Update For 2023
Saturday 23rd December 2023
It's our last update of 2023 for Hyperia and it's been a huge year for Thorpe Park! Old Town is gone and in its place, the UK's tallest and fastest rollercoaster is being built! Over the past few months, we've been documenting the construction of Hypera previously known as Project Exodus. We've been lucky enough to watch supports and track fly into place, and go into the park during the closed season but for now we end this year's updates from Monks Walk.

So... what's changed?

Another tower is being built in the middle of the area for the connecting sections of the track for the loop and inversion. With the site now shut for Christmas nothing will happen for the next few weeks. But when the site starts up again, it won't be long until we see this loop and inversion completed and the lift hill and first drop are installed.

The most major change in the area is the old Mexican Cantina / Shop / green room for Creek Freek is now gone. The park teased the old building being removed on their socials last night but we can confirm the building is now gone! The only part of the building left is the ruble that remains on the ground. A new exit shop and photo unit will be built in its place over the next few weeks.

At the station and maintenance building. The station has had more panels installed enclosing it even more, scaffolding can be seen in the station and metal clips for safety nets can be seen below the station waiting to be installed when the ride is more complete. Inside the maintenance shed, supports for the track have been installed and wheels to move the train in and out of the shed can be seen.

Where the old train shed once stood it looks like Thorpe Park is building something new in its place. A new wooden fence is being built in the area. The plans don't show anything being built here, could this be a location for a new Fright Nights attraction?

Looking across the lake the skyline of the park is changing at a rapid pace, we can't wait to see what this ride will look like when it's complete!

Hyperia see you in 2024!

Hyperia December Construction Update From Within Thorpe Park
Thursday 14th December 2023
Working in conjunction with Thorpe Park we bring you this exciting Hyperia update from the other side of Monks Walk!

The last time we were inside the park was 31st October when the top of the overbanked turn was being installed and completed. Fast forward six weeks to 14th December and lots more track and supports have now been installed! The station and maintenance building are now watertight and the buildings look amazing.

Old Town has become the centre of a new multi-million-pound investment!

Viewing this rollercoaster from different locations within the park it's crazy to think the rollercoaster has yet to reach its maximum height yet can still be seen from many locations within the park.

Some construction fences for the site have been removed to allow better access in and out. The viewing windows installed a few months ago are still standing strong, howeverr the fences to the right of them have now been removed. Track and supports can be seen lying on the ground waiting to be installed over the next few days. With Christmas fast approaching, we expect the site will close down in the next few days.

The tower being built next to the station for the loop and inversion looks huge in person! During our short visit to the park we managed to watch a section of  track get installed and a support fly into place. With Old Town being an active construction site, you never know what you might see! Seeing the track coming out of the station as it begins to bend it looks even more insane inside the park. The banking on this first turn is going to be amazing.

Viewing Hyperia from the construction site office platform, you really get a feel for how big this project is. There's so much work going on around the Hyperia construction site! The foundations/base of the lift hill remains empty for now but we can't wait to see the lift hill for the rollercoaster be installed over the next few weeks! However, we probably won't see this installed until work resumes in the new year.

Hyperia 10th December 2023 Update
Sunday 10th December 2023
Another week, another huge step forward for Project Exodus! Work on the tower structure next to the station has now breached the trees and can be seen from across the lake. No track has been installed on this new structure yet but it won't be long until we see track and more supports installed.

The first turn coming out of the station has also started to be installed. The transfer track system has been installed and then the first main bit of track in the circuit has been installed. Supports for the following sections of the track have been installed. It won't be long until these sections are installed and the track leading up to the lift hill is ready.

There are lots of sections of track lying around the construction site ready to be installed over the next few days.

Supports for the first drop have also been installed over the past week.

Walking down monks walk back to our car we also spotted lots of supports and track on the island behind The Swarm. With all the leaves falling, visibility into the storage area is slowly opening up. There are lots of sections of track and supports left to be installed over the next few months. Scaffolding around the maintenance shed has also been removed since our last look at the site last weekend.

It's time to say goodbye to an old friend, the old Canada Creek Railway train shed is now gone! The train shed has been flattened and only a few sections of the shed can be seen on the floor waiting to be moved into the skip. This space would make for an excellent maze location!

Hyperia Transfer Track And Banked Turn Installed
Thursday 7th December 2023
Another update coming in from Thorpe Park tonight!

Hyperia is progressing fast and the first section of track outside the station has been installed. The beginning of the outward banked turn has been installed along with the transfer track to move trains from the station to the maintenance shed.

The structure near the station is also progressing fast with more supports installed and track started to be installed on the new structure.

Hyperia Inversion Tower Continues To Grow
Saturday 2nd December 2023
Work on Hyperia continues to grow at a rapid rate, since our last look at the construction site just over a week ago so much has happened.

The track for the splash-down section of the rollercoaster has been installed, and the track leading into the break run has been completed. The final 15 seconds of the ride looks insane and we can't wait to ride it very soon.

Work on building the tower for the inversion and also continues to rise into the Thorpe Park skyline. Viewing it from across the lake it won't be long until it breaks into the skyline and the skyline of the park changes more. Walking across the bridge into the park last night for the Night With Imascrore event the view doesn't look very different however more track is visible from the bridge now.

During our visit down Monks Walk we watched the construction crews try to lift a complicated support into place. Where they had to remove sections of support in order to get support with over 5 connections. It's not every day you can say you watched a rollercoaster grow and also see parts of it be removed.

Across the rest of the site, the station is now almost fully enclosed, and pipes for cables for breakrun have been installed. And peering through the trees the old Loggers Leap track can still be seen. Inside the maintenance shed, platforms to access the trains have been installed on both sides. But there's still no track down the middle of the shed. With the length of the shed being so long, we think that it could easily hold two trains.

On another note, we've never seen monks walk so busy! It's fantastic to see so many people excited for Hyperia.

Hyperia Loop And Inversion Tower Construction Begins
Wednesday 22nd November 2023
Hyperia is about to start towering over the Thorpe Park skyline even more! Work on the structure that will support part of the loop and inversion has started to go vertical. Located outside the station on the front left, this new tower is hard to photograph in its current state but over the next few weeks as the construction of the rollercoaster progresses it will look amazing! Work on enclosing the station has also begun, soon we won't be able to see into the construction site much.

Around the rest of the site, we managed to witness some supports being crained in this afternoon. More supports have been installed during our last visit. Despite that only being 3 days ago! Work on foundations at the front of the station building where being poured during our short visit down Monks Walk today. It would also appear that work on the foundations for the splash-down section is still in progress.

When the concrete trucks moved out of the way to replace empty trucks, we spotted a glimpse of more supports sitting on the side waiting to be installed over the next few days. Looking back 12 months ago, this area is totally unrecognisable!

Hyperia Brake Run And Catwalk Completed
Sunday 19th November 2023
Work on Hyperia continues to power through the great British weather, over the past week, the weather down south has been wet and miserable. But that hasn't stopped work on building Hyperia!

Since our last look at the construction site, more of the old train shed has been removed and it looks like the old Platform 15 / Canada Creek Railway route is being dug up for new pipes to be installed.

The biggest change though is that the brake run is now complete! Sections of the brake run track were lifted into place on Friday afternoon and since then workers have been hard at work lifting into place sections of the catwalk that runs alongside the track. This will be used to evacuate the train and to check the breaks. It's amazing how fast this rollercoaster is coming together!

More supports have been delivered to the construction site with some installed just in front of the station with more sat on the ground waiting to be installed during the week.

Work on the station building continues with the roof now on the building and stairs being added to the building. The entrance and exit steps have now been installed, with work on the emergency exit stairs on the other side of the station happening during the day today.

With work slowly progressing on the track layout, the rides PLC control system is being installed below the station. To prevent the ride control system from getting damaged if the area floods, the control system is raised off of the floor.

By looking at the progress being made, we think we could see the ride open as early as May 2024.

Hyperia Final Turn Around And Station Track Installed
Saturday 11th November 2023
Hyperia at Thorpe Park is progressing fast, with more track and supports installed since our last look at the project over a week and a half ago.

Since our last look at the area, the final turn and break run has started to be installed. Supports for the break run appear to almost be complete with only 2 left to be installed. The track towers above the old Platform 15 fence which is still standing strong! The final turn looks a lot more impressive in person than we thought it would be looking at the plans and POV of the rollercoaster that the park released.

The maintenance building is now fully enclosed with a roof and sides of the building installed. However, when looking at the station building floors have started to be installed but the most exciting part of this update is that track and supports for the station have been installed! Kicker wheels for moving trains in and out of the station can be seen already installed. Mack Rides aren't sitting around on this project.

The base of the lift hill also now appears to be complete. We wonder when we might see some more progress on the lift hill or higher sections of the rollercoaster. The Island Landscape hasn't changed much since the park has closed. But we're sure it won't be long!

Hyperia Overbanked Turn Completed
Tuesday 31st October 2023
The first element of Hyperia has been completed! The overbanked turn has been completed/topped off this afternoon. The first piece of track went in a 9 a.m. this morning and the element was completed this afternoon at 2:30 p.m.

This will be our last update from inside the park until the park opens for the 2024 theme park season.

However, work around the site has rapidly progressed this year. At the beginning of the year, Loggers Leap still stood tall and proud. Fast forward 10 months and a new structure towers above the island landscape.

Work on the station and maintenance buildings continues with both buildings now complete and cladding being added to them to make them watertight. With winter coming we expect that this will be a priority.

Supports for the maintenance area or station building have also been moved onto the site today. So it might not be long until we see supports and track in the station or maintenance area.
