Hyperia Update From Within The Park February 2024

Hyperia is towering above the Thorpe Park Skyline and it's about to get bigger!
On Tuesday 20th February Thorpe Park invited us to have a look at Hyperia from within the park and check up on the progress of the rollercoaster from a different angle. For weeks we've walked down Monks Walk to get updates, but with the park now weeks away from opening again, we can see how everything looks from within the park again.
Hyperia dominates the skyline of the park and can be seen from almost everywhere. With all gold supports and sections of track now installed only white sections remain left to be installed.
Three white sections of the lift hill track have been installed since our last look at the project on Saturday. Along with the first section of catwalk stairs installed today whilst we were watched from the distance. The bottom of the lift hill can be seen on site waiting to be installed. Once the first section of the catwalk was installed at midday, a lorry containing more lift hill stairs appeared on site ready to be installed later in the afternoon. At the angle of 45 degrees, this lift hill is going to be a steep climb.
With the next stage of Hyperia construction being at such a height, the project now requires bigger cranes and machines. When chatting with the site manager he explained that during the rest of this week, the catwalk would be installed and bolts would be checked and tightened. Looking into next week a huge new crane will be installed over the course of a day or two which will allow the team to install more of the lift hill and finish off this massive project.
When the rollercoaster is topped off and finished, the top section of the ride will be pre-installed on the ground before being lifted into the air and topped off. In a process called "crowning" 3 huge bits of the ride will be bolted together before being lifted into place where the ride will be complete and then more exciting things can happen!
Theming has started to be installed on the maintenance bay with the word "Fearless" installed. We expect that the words "Find Your" will be installed above this. It would also appear that black panels are being installed on the building to create a flat appearance. We didn't expect to see any theming installed on this building but it's great to see the park putting in theming elements here.
Viewing the site from the balcony, this rollercoaster is huge! You can really take in how big this rollercoaster is and how amazing it's going to be. We can also get a small close-up on some elements like the gold strips of theming on the new shop roof, the motor that will power the lift hill and how banked the first turn out of the station is.
Other bits we noticed whilst being on site today, the old Platform 15 fence has been repainted black on the side facing into the park and theming inside the station can be seen from the construction gates.
Hyperia is looking amazing and we can't wait to be sat on the train climbing up the lift hill for the first time.
Hyperia Lift Hill Rises Into The Sky

The time has come, the lift hill for Hyperia is finally being installed! The first two sections of the gold lift hill track were installed yesterday afternoon with the base of the lift hill along with the rest of the track leading to this section completed a few days before. So much has happened during this week! And we can't forget to mention that the stall turn is now complete too.
Huge progress has been made at the Hyperia construction site this week but the most exciting part has just begun. The installation of the golf and white lift hill. This section will reach the crazy height of 236ft! Making it the tallest rollercoaster at Thorpe Park and the UK.
Around the rest of the site, the stall turn was completed this week. Lots more supports for the lift hill and first drop have been installed and the gold theming has been added to the new shop and photo collection building.
More gold theming has also been added to the front of the Hyperia station. Matching some of the designs that can be seen on the side of the station facing into the park.
We cant wait to be sat on a train for Hyperia climbing up the 236ft lift hill! Not long left now...

Hyperia Lift Hill Continues To Grow

The structure for the lift hill for Hyperia is growing by the day! Since our last look at Hyperia Friday evening more supports have been added to the huge structure which can now be seen from across the lake. This huge lift hill structure for the rollercoaster also features the first drop for the rollercoaster.
Since Friday more sections of track have been installed on the structure climbing towards the top. We can start to see the track start to twist as it reaches the bottom of the drop. It will be interesting to see how fast this structure goes up over the next few weeks!
Other small notable changes around the site, the ground around the first bend out of the station looks to have been dug out to create a small pond. And more track and supports can be seen at the back of the site waiting to be installed over the next few days. The first gold piece of theming on the front of the station is now fully installed. Hopefully, over the next few days, the front of the station will be complete and we can see what the final product might look like. Towards the back of the station, access to restricted areas is starting to be secured. A golden gate has been installed below where the exit stairs of the ride will be.
Still no sign of the lift hill base... it can't be long now!
Hyperia Lift Hill Structure Rises Into The Air

The lift hill for Hyperia has started to rise into the air! Over the past few days, workers have been busy building the structure for the lift hill. Mount points for the first drop can be seen on the structure as it starts to rise into the air.
The skyline of Thorpe Park is about to change dramatically!
Work on adding theming to the station building continues with gold strips added to the front of the building where your journey on Hyperia begins. The design on the front of the station appears to be quite simple but it's good to see this side of the station receiving some work.
During our short visit to Monks Walk this evening we watched 3 supports fly into the air and being installed for the lift hill. The structure can change very quickly when parts fit together the first time. Around the rest of the site, the new shop and photo unit has had more walls installed and is coming together nicely. The old electric building for Loggers Leap has been repainted black to fit in and lots of supports and sections of track can be seen on the ground ready to be installed over the next few days. With tomorrow being the weekend we expect these sections are being stored here ready for Monday.
With the shutter for the maintenance bay fully open today we can see where the train enters the maintenance bay and the track ends so the wheels and train can be moved and checked.

Hyperia construction update
We know you all have lots of burning Hyperia questions like opening date, restrictions, theming, queue line info, etc. We'll share all of this information ahead of the opening, but we want to be absolutely sure before we confirm anything (plus, we'd like to keep some secrets under wraps for now too)
First look inside the station shell, here you can also see the operator's console. Next, we'll install air gates, bag storage, audio, lighting, and theming.
Track work is nearly complete including the outward bank outside the station - lift hill construction is due to start very soon.
Landscaping has begun around the back of the site.
Work is progressing on the new Hyperia exit shop and photo kiosk.
Hyperia Maintenance Bay & First Turn Track Installed

The sun is shining and it's time for another look at the progress made at Thorpe Park for Hyperia. More sections of track and supports have been installed over the past week with a huge push made outside the station. The track for the first turn out of the station has finally been installed. Supports for this section were installed in December but have been left empty till now.
Track and supports for the maintenance bay have also been installed meaning that trains could be arriving any day now! Although the circuit is yet to be completed trains can be loaded on at any point.
Work on the new shop and photos unit is progressing fast with a roof now installed along with some sides of the building. We can't wait to see how this building is rethemed to fit in with the rest of the area over the next few weeks. The old toilet building is also receiving a facelift on the outside which leaves us wondering if that building will also be cladded in black and gold.
Elsewhere around the site, more supports for the lift hill have been installed along with another section of track for the first drop. It won't be long now until we see supports towering into the sky for the lift hill!
Work on checking the gage of the track was underway today, a worker could be seen using a device from Mack Rides to check that the kicker wheels were aligned correctly. Clips that we previously thought were for nets were in fact for holding cable trays to supports. More of these clips can be seen around the maintenance area ready for wires to be run and installed. Lots of brackets for electrical components can be seen at the switch track and maintenance bay.
Hyperia Track 80% Complete Next Stage The Lift Hill

Progress on Hyperia over the past week has been insane! The top of the non-inverted immelmann has been topped and completed and the most exciting part is about the begin. Work on the lift hill is next...
Over the past week, lots of sections of track and supports have been installed. On Wednesday the park shared photos of the non-inverted immelmann being completed and since then work on the element next to it has progressed rapidly. The first support for the lift hill has also been installed. Another support comes off of this for the stall turn.
Around the rest of the site, plants have been delivered, the maintenance bay has had a gold shutter added to it, work continues rebuilding the shop and photo unit and work on fitting the stairs into the station has begun. Last week we spotted that a window had been cut into the side of the station, since then more framework has been installed inside the station for what we expect will become the operator cabin. No sign of the famous Mack Rides bag system yet. It would also appear that parts for the lift have been delivered, wrapped up in the middle of the site waiting to be installed. Part of the old Platform 15 fence has also been removed and replaced with a new wooden fence. Hopefully, the rest of the fence will be removed over the next few weeks and replaced with this.
Hyperia is looking more amazing with every visit we make to the park! At a guess, we would say that over 80% of track and supports are now installed.

Hyperia More Track Installed And New Shop Takes Shape

Eyes to the sky! More track and supports have been installed for Hyperia.
In the short span of a few days, the photos and shop unit have been rebuilt. The old shop was removed and a much larger unit has been built in its place. Although it would have been great to have a part of Old Town still in the area, it’s great to see the park investing in a purpose-built shop. And, it’s not a shipping container!
Elsewhere on site, supports and track for the first drop have been installed. This is the beginning of the end for the construction of Hyperia. Although we are probably weeks away from the ride being finished.
The track for the dive stall and Immelmann has also been installed over the past few days. It would also appear that brackets for more trim brakes can be seen coming out of the inversion.
At the station building, work continues on adding theming. And it would small window has been installed. Possibly for the operator's cabin? Supports for the track going into the maintenance building are still a work in progress. A cross beam connecting the two supports is currently being built. Later in our small trip down monks walk we did see them start to pour concrete into the form.
Pipes for cables can be seen being laid at the brake run. It would also appear that golf brackets for cables have been fitted on the brake run.
Fantastic progress in such a short space of time. We can’t wait to ride this rollercoaster very soon.
