The World of David Walliams Permanently Closes at Alton Towers
Alton Towers has officially confirmed that The World of David Walliams has permanently closed as of Tuesday 3rd November 2026, bringing an end to the themed area just five years after it opened.
The resort confirmed the news on its website with the following statement:
“UPDATE: The World of David Walliams will be permanently closed from Tuesday 3 November 2026. As we are no longer in the main season, guests are encouraged to check the Alton Towers Resort website and app for the latest attraction opening information ahead of their visit.”
A few weeks ago, we reported on the uncertain future of the area following allegations surrounding David Walliams and changes to his publishing arrangements. During our visits, we had also noticed that parts of the area were beginning to look tired and worn, raising questions about its future.
While Alton Towers has not confirmed the reason behind the closure, it certainly raises questions about what will happen to attractions such as Gangsta Granny: The Ride, Flavio's Fabulous Fandango and Royal Carousel.
No replacement theme or plans for the area have been announced, but with the 2026 season coming to an end, it will be interesting to see whether Alton Towers gives the existing attractions a new theme or completely transforms the area for 2027.
