2023

Survival Games is back for 2023, and this year the maze has seen some small changes! Before entering the maze you're now briefed in a different area to keep the front of the maze clear. After being briefed you then stood at the front of the maze where the actors ran out to grab you can take you into the cells. You're told before you enter the maze the actors may touch you and in this year's version they do! This year's version of Survival Games is very hands-on and more extreme than last year's. Where we don't mind that, it might be good to have a lanyard you can wear in the maze to me you don't want to be touched and manhandled like we were. Inside the maze, a few doorways have been covered up to make the maze more one-way and to stop people from getting trapped for a long time. The characters inside also appear to have more props to use this year! However, the biggest change to the maze this year is the ending. The ending has now been changed to include a chainsaw runout. This is much more effective than an actor with a hammer, there's now more of a runout aspect when you're getting chased. We absolutely loved the maze this year, there were a few costume changes but nothing big and noteworthy.

2025

Now in its fourth year, Survival Games has received its most substantial update yet. The multi-route format has been scrapped in favour of a single, extended path that takes you through every part of the maze. This simple change makes the attraction feel much longer, more cohesive, and more intense.

The pre-show has also been reworked, providing stronger narrative grounding before you’re thrown into the chaos. The maze is populated by fresh characters who feel more threatening than ever, and the pacing is relentless.

Survival Games has always been strong, but this year it feels revitalised and re-energised – easily climbing back to the top of the rankings. Fans will love the changes, and newcomers are in for one of the most immersive experiences on offer.

2026

Survival Games returns for 2026 with another revised storyline and new characters.

This year, an airborne virus called Harmony has been introduced. Guests learn about the outbreak at the start of the maze before entering the arena and fighting for the cure.

It’s good to see Thorpe Park continuing to refine Survival Games rather than simply leaving it untouched each year, although we’ll always miss the original free-flow version of the maze where guests could choose between multiple routes.

There are some really strong scares throughout, and the chainsaw run-out at the end remains one of the most entertaining finishes at Fright Nights — especially when you’ve got someone in your group who scares much more easily than everyone else.

The cast was once again excellent during our visit. In fact, that’s one of the biggest strengths across the entire event this year: there are some incredibly talented performers working throughout the mazes.

Survival Games remains a good attraction, but we would love to see the multi-route concept return one day.
