River Caves Refurbishment Update – Could It Reopen in 2027?
Work continues on the refurbishment of River Caves at Blackpool Pleasure Beach!
During our latest visit, we noticed that the attraction's entrance had been blocked off, with a skip positioned behind it. Some of the concrete walls around the final drop area have also been removed, suggesting that work to investigate the ride's water leaks may be progressing.
Pleasure Beach Resort's Managing Director, Amanda Thompson OBE, recently revealed that River Caves had been losing thousands of gallons of water through leaks in its trough system, forcing the historic attraction to close in 2024.
The park is currently working to locate and repair these leaks, alongside plans to reimagine the attraction with refreshed scenes and redesigned boats.
Amanda has said she hopes River Caves will reopen in 2027, although this will depend on how quickly the leaks can be identified and repaired.
It's great to see work continuing on this historic attraction, which first opened in 1905. Hopefully, we'll see it welcoming guests again next year!
