SW7 at Alton Towers is due to open in a few months time and were now on the count down with only 63 days left until opening. Today we rang up the resort and asked about our hotel stay along with the status of construction and they told us the following:

Updates on SW7 Alton Towers brand new ride for 2013 have been very slow and started to grind to a halt now. However in a change of path Alton Towers sent an email out to everyone on the press list saying “Its coming” attached to the email was a photo of the track starting to be erected.

Alton Towers sends the 2012 season off with a bang tonight marking the end of another exciting season. With the addition of Nemesis sub terra and ice age 4D this season has been action packed with scarefest and the construction of SW7 to be unveiled March 2013!

Today Alton Towers have launched a new app for mobile phones for there upcoming Scarefest event.

Marketing for Alton Towers next big ride is starting to heat up now with logos being sprayed around the park and the mini site now being updated to show the ministry of joy smiley face logo.

Yesterday the Alton Towers Resort revealed on there twitter page the line up for the 2012 scarefest. This year we see the Boiler house be taken out of the scarefest lineup and a new attraction added in its place, this years new scarefest attraction is called The Sanctuary.

On Sunday 5th August 2012 the monorail at Alton Towers was E-Stopped to stop a major accident. Now all of this is unconfirmed by the resort but there are many people on the resorts Facebook page talking about it plus a few photos here and there!

For the past few weeks Alton Towers have been giving away £1000 to one lucky guest. The winner was randomly picked whilst on a ride then greeted by Alton Towers to be told that they had won £1000, there reaction was videoed by the staff and they had there photo taken with a giant cheque.

In the next few weeks coming Alton Towers Resort planes to open up a park wide wifi zone. The internet connection at the alton towers hotels was made free during the closed season and has been free since then to our knowledge.

On Wednesday 9th May 2012 a man adventured into the Oblivion restricted area where the car drops into the ground. As shown by the photo below the man some how managed to get onto the ledge off the ride.
