Alton Towers Celebrates its 40th Birthday today, after its official opening on 4th April 1980. Launching with its first rollercoaster Corkscrew, which still stands today at the entrance of the park.

In 2020 Alton Towers celebrates its 40th Anniversary and to celebrate its rich history the park has launched a new feature on its website. Merging the theme park of today with the past and future, visitors to the park can create, model and share there own park map.
